Exchange 2016 upgrade to Exchange 2019

Dear All, 

We are planning to upgrade from ex-2016 to ex-2019. If it possible to install both exchange on the same windows server or it need to be separated and perform mailbox migration. 

Besides is there anything we need to take caution before proceed to exchange upgrade.

You will need to deploy to a new server and migrate. There is a lot you will need to be aware of when moving to Exchange Server 2019. I'd recommend you start at with the Deployment Assistant https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/exchange-deployment-assistant?view=exchserver-2019
