deploy exchange online protection

Brass Contributor

Hello people ,

we have an Exchange online which is protected by EOP obviously and we have another on prem exchange that is protected by a third party filter ... we would like to deploy EOP for our on-prem exchange also ...

My Question is ... we should go for hybrid deployment right ? if yes , where can i find the documentation for that ?

thank you

Yes, hybrid is they to go. You should read the requirements and start with this document:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/exchange-hybrid

And more specific about mailflow: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/transport-routing

this is a real complicated process i see ... just to be clear ... we have 2 different domains ...

1- onprem@123.com ==> protected with third party

2- oncloud@456.com ==> protected with EOP

we want to protect onprem@123.com with EOP also ... i thought this is a standalone scenario

That's always hard to answer... I would say that the process (running the hybrid wizard) is easy but checking the requirements and understanding what changes when you enable hybrid might be more complex.
you are assuming that we have a hybrid environment " For example, both on-premises and Exchange Online organizations use the @contoso.com SMTP domain." right ?
where in fact we have different domains ... so should we really be going with the hybrid setup of EOP or Standalone ?

Solution
Yes, you are correct.

If both domains are somehow related I would use the same ExO environment. No extra value added.

Otherwise, I would go with a new tenant and a standalone plan.
