Best way to archive/clean very large mailbox

Hi All,

A user's mailbox size is enormous, over 81GB. The challenge involves over 500 folders/subfolders and "uncountable" emails. My local IT Team has limited experience dealing with such a problem. 

Moreover, after archiving the mailbox, for some reason, the mailbox size increased by 20GB.

I am looking to reduce the mailbox size and define how to manage to archive it smoothly.

Also, how to describe where and how to "fix" it as I have to be precise in explaining the problem to the outsourced EX team.

I much appreciate any advice.
