Archive emails on a OST file from Exchange Online

Iron Contributor

Hi,

I'm dealing with some issues on some Office 365 accounts running out of space and so they are limited from sending and receiving email.

The users have the OST file on their devices.

If we use the archive on the local computer, moving emails to archive folder, as we're speaking of a local cache, has that any effect on the occupied space on Exchange?

Or as it's Office 365 and the OST is just a local cache, the archiving should be done centrally?
Any other tips for managing this issue?

Thanks

If you plan to keep the old items around, or have regulatory requirements to do so, best use the Online archive functionality: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/archive-mailboxes?view=o365-worldwide
Thanks, I think that's more or less what I need.
