Storage limit changing in Exchange 2003 SP2 Standard

I wanted to make sure you all knew about this little bit of information, buried in the page and the FAQ about Exchange 2003 SP2:

Q. Did the storage limit change?

A. Based on feedback from customers like you and because of the evolution of e-mail usage, we are increasing the storage limit for Exchange Server 2003 Standard Edition with SP2 to 75 gigabyte (GB).

[Update later in the morning: Yes, this will apply to SBS 2003 once E2K3 Service Pack 2 is installed on the SBS box]

[Another update: The way the limit worked before was that you had 16gb for one private store and 16gb for one public store. The way the limit will work in SP2 is that you have 75gb for one private store and 75gb for one public store.]

The rule size limitation is not changing in any existing product. It has been removed in E12 (it was not a simple change): http://blogs.technet.com/exchange/archive/2005/03/02/383720.aspx.

Well, no surprise here. I just ordered the Enterprise edition today! Our store got to 14.5 gigs a week or so.

This is absolutely wonderful and welcome news indeed. My thanks to MS on this one.

75GB is great, but not in one DB! Backups, disaster recoveries, and SLA's would all be served much better if you just give them 1 storage group, 5 stores (4 mb, 1 pf) and make the overall limit 75GB, or make each mb store have a limit of 20GB.

PSS will now be doing a lot more slash P operations for pro customers on 70-75 GB databases. :-)

Still, can't wait for SP2, but even more for E12!

What about SBS2000 upgrades.

Let say I have SBS2000.
I upgrade the Exchange 2000 on the SBS2000 server to Exchange 2003.
Then I apply SP2.
Will I get 75GB space then ?

Thanks.
