Released: Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2007 SP3

Earlier today the Exchange CXP team released Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2007 SP3 to the Download Center.

This update contains a number of customer-reported and internally found issues since the release of RU3. For a list of changes included in this rollup, see KBA 2509911 Description of Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3. We'd like to specifically call out the following fixes which are included in this release:

• 2531208 You cannot synchronize a folder hierarchy by using Outlook for Mac 2011 in an Exchange Server 2007 SP3 environment
• 2528437 EWS applications cannot connect to Exchange Server 2007 servers after you make changes on accepted domains
• 2521063 You are incorrectly displayed as a meeting organizer after you synchronize the meeting by using your mobile device in an Exchange Server 2007 environment

Update Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3 is currently scheduled to release in August 2011.

Does this fix the issue with email tracking logs (transport role) not being searchable accross the whole retention length because they are being put in zip files that the tracking tool wont open?

Any idea when support.microsoft.com will be incorporated into a RU? We have this and the Mac PDF issue as a joint IU under RU3-V2, and don't plan to move until both IUs are rolled into an RU.

@HotFix, as mentioned in a previous comment, the MAC PDF issue fix is in E2007 SP3 RU4 (support.microsoft.com/.../2543879).  The extended protection fix (support.microsoft.com) is not included in E2007 SP3 RU4, but is scheduled for a future rollup.  You can always obtain a new IU for this last issue that will work with E2007 SP3 RU4.

Is the issue in Exchange 2010 SP1 RU4 (KB2581545) also a problem in Exchange 2007?  Specifically is it safe to install Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2007 SP3 released 7/7/2011 to resolve issues with RU3?

Sorry Ross, I had a double IU and cut and pasted the wrong number in my correction post. I meant to ask when was 2538958 going to be included in an RU? I realize it will be scheduled for a future rollup, but do you know which one? Like maybe RU5?

Ross, The PDF issue is not fixed. I applied E2K7 SP3 RU4 over the weekend.  If you have signature setup in Apple mail, then the PDF attachment sent rom Apple Mail is still hidden from Outlook 2010, and iOS. This was not a problem with RU2.

Please send test email with and without signature from your Apple mail on Mac OS 10.6.8 using the instruction below:

Test Email #1

Subject: Attach PDF file with no message text in the body

Test Email #2

Subject: Attach PDF file first, then type message text on the bottom of the attachment.

Test Email #3

Subject: Type message text first, then attach PDF file afterwards.

Just subscribing and checking to see if there is any news on the re-release of this Roll UP?  Our MAC users are having recipients use the 'view as webpage' to view their PDF attachments and just wondering when the fix will be.

Is there a problem getting PDFs from scanners after 2007 SP3 RU4? It worked fine in 2007 SP3 RU3, but after RU4, PDFs sent from scanners are not delivered to mailboxes. Is this a known issue? Any fix?

Did anyone else not get this to install on any of the MB roles? All of my CAS/HT role servers installed OK but the install failed on all MB servers, causing OWA and ActiveSync to break. Had to uninstall on all CAS/HT servers.

Anyone have problems with the installation of Update 4? After the experience with Update 3 and 3v2 i'm not so confident to apply the new Rollups.

Had huge problems again with apple mail containing pdf after installing RU4. Unlike RU3 the attachment was visible, but when a user opened the pdf attachment of 150k Exchange started reserving 20, 30, 40, ... 100 GB of memory, causing the pagefile on the server to use all free space and eventually crashing the server. Limiting the pagefile resulted in 'running out of resources'. It took some time before I realised RU4 could be the cause, after downgrading again to RU2 the problem was gone and the system is stable again.
