I'm trying to open a .xlsb format and I am getting the following error: "Excel cannot open the file 'name.xlsb' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file."
The file is not mine, and I have spoken with the author who has no issues opening the file on their end.
I am able to open .xlsx and .xlsm just fine.
I have verified that this is happening on other machines in my office.
My version is 2207 Build 15427.20210
I have gone through Microsoft guides on Trust center and enabling ActiveX, Macro Settings, Protected Views, File Block Settings, etc.
I have tried moving the file to Trusted Locations, or adding the locaiton as a Trusted Location. (Although side issue, I'm not able to add a network location as a trusted location even when the proper box is checked).
I feel like there is an account setting or something at a higher level that needs to be addressed here, but I can't find any guides online.
Please let me know if you are able to help with this issue.
