Vlookup to return cell colour reference

Hi

See attached spreadsheet with two tabs. The Training Matrix tab contains the dates my staff passed the relevant training courses. These are then coloured red, green or orange to represent the below:

Green = Advanced - Number 3

Orange = Basic - Number 2

Red - Needs Training - Number 1

In the Skills Matrix tab, I want to do a vlookup by name to the Training Matrix tab and return either the numbers 3, 2 or 1 based on the relevant cell colour. I have done a basic vlookup function in cell E14 of the Skills Matrix tab. If I could return the number of the cell (green is number 43) rather than the date passed then I can added a nested function to return the numbers 3, 2 or 1 as relevant

Formulas don't work with cell properties like colour, only with values. Perhaps you have another values-based logic?

I cannot think of another way of achieving what I need. Do you have any ideas?
