I have a spreadsheet with data about members of a classic car club.

I would like to be able to include a picture of the member's car (or cars) attached to their row of data.  However, using actual high-res images rapidly makes the spreadsheet impractically large.  What I really need is a quick and simple way to include a thumbnail in the spreadsheet, which would call up the image on demand.  I suspect this would be easier using a database, rather than a spreadsheet; but I've worked with Excel and Word for many years - and never with Access.

How would you advise me to proceed?

Hi @Roger_Stone

You can insert the picture(s), them resize compress them, then add a hyperlink for every picture in case the user want to see the normal picture he can click on the small picture in excel to go to the original picture outside the excel

@Jihad Al-Jarady  thanks; I think I was aware there would be a route like that, involving four or five stages.  I suspect I'll be able to create a macro which will do most of the repetitive bits and shorten the task.

I think I was hoping there might be a simpler, quicker solution.
