uncorrect sorting

Hi, I need to sort data but when I try Excel gives me wrong results. I have data from 2000 to 0 and it starts the sorting (decreasing) with the highest left value: so it starts with 9 (both 900s and 90s), then with 8 (both 800s and 80s) and the other. When it comes to 2 it includes 2000s, 200s and 20s and so on. I have already worked with this function, so it is quite odd for me. Is it a problem of formatting? Thank you a lot

Your data are texts or numbers?

That makes me suspect the data are seen as text by Excel.

Try the following:

• Select the range.
• Set the number formatting to General or to Number.
• On the Data tab of the ribbon, select Text to Columns.
• Click Finish.

Does that make a difference?
