two versions of spreadsheet

Every time I open my spreadsheet it creates two different views.  I cannot get it to open my original document the old way.  This spreadsheet dates back to 2015 and I really don't want to lose the information.  I am using a Surface Pro which also has the 'one drive' backup.  This has never happened to me before.

What happens if you close one window, then save the workbook, close the other window, and finally reopen the workbook?

when I close one it closes them both
