Trouble with sharing Excel Workbook

Copper Contributor

I want to control who has access to several shared excel workbooks, so I stopped using the copy link and started using where you have to type that person's email address.  As I understand that when you type their email address only that person has access to the excel workbook AND I know who is editing it.

The problem I have is every time I type in an email address it always goes to the person's trash, junk or spam folder as it shows the invite coming from an email with tons of characters.  Then on other occasions, I am sitting there with my laptop sharing with someone on a desktop right in front of me and they never get the invite email.  I shared it to that same person numerous times within 30 minutes and they never received any of the invites.  We checked their trash, junk and spam folders.

Please help.  When we finally get it working it is great for collaboration but it is super frustrating to get the excel workbooks shared with those that need it.

* Knowing the Excel version and operating system would also be an advantage.

Thank you for your understanding and patience

@NikolinoDE It is the excel from the Microsoft 365 package

Unfortunately, I am not so familiar with Office 365 that I could give advice. But I will send you some links with information where they might help you. Until one of the specialists here takes on your topic.

Use shared workbooks with different versions of Excel

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office/troubleshoot/excel/use-shared-workbook

About the shared workbook feature

Note. When Microsoft Excel refuses to share a particular workbook, it is most likely due to one of the following reasons:
That is for the versions Excel 2010, 2013 and 2016, I cannot confirm whether it is also at 365 ... but you don't know before you have tried it.
Workbooks that contain tables or XML maps cannot be shared. So make sure to convert your tables to ranges and remove the XML cards before sharing your Excel file.
In order to be able to share a workbook, some data protection settings must be deactivated. Go to File> Excel Options> Trust Center, click the Trust Center Settings… button, and under the Privacy Options category, clear the Remove personal information from file properties when saving check box.

Excel has many solution paths how to solve a problem, so it is as simple complex :).

I hope I was able to help you at least a little.

I would appreciate your feedback.

I wish you lots of fun with Excel ... the best invention from Microsoft since there was chocolate :).
