I'm struggling to get a today() formula to work and I would love some assistant. On a day to day basis we need to track how many weeks our new starters have been in our business. In theory I would have assumed all I needed to do was put the start date in one cell and use a today() - that cell number to get the length of time they have been in the business e.g. =TODAY() - B1. This formula works if B1 contains a number e.g. today - 5 will minus 5 days fro today's date. As soon as I put in a date in that cell rather than a number of days being returned, it returns a random date as the return value. How can I get this formula to take a date away from today's date and produce the quantity of days between these dates?

Like so? (See attached)
Note: If your cell/column with the formula is formatted as DATE, the number of days calculated will be displayed as a date. E.g. 121 days becomes "30/04/1900", being the 121st day in the Excel built-in calendar, which starts at the 1st of January 1900. Just reformat to a number and you will see 121.
