SumIf statement help

Copper Contributor

Hi two issues I am need of assistance with today.

1. I was wondering how you make a sumif statement read a cell that just has any type of content in it. I need to sum up a list of prices of items, but filter them through another column with their designated floor level, but the cells are filled with the dates of work done, so they are all different content in each cell even if they are on the same floor.

2. Is there a way I can create sumif statements that filter through a specific word such as "John" and the color I have filled/highlighted the cell with?

Thank you!

If I can recommend you, always include a file (without sensitive data) whenever possible.

At the same time, information about your Excel version as well as the operating system would be advantageous in order to provide you with a faster and more accurate solution proposal.

After you have specified, I will send you this inserted file with an example.

I hope that I could help you with this example inserted in the file.
