Spinner controls in Excel 365

Copper Contributor

Hi all,

I have some spinner controls in a spreadsheet that were originally made with Excel 97 (I think) and they have worked properly through Excel 2016.  I just got a new laptop and it came with a trial version of Microsoft 365 which I am playing with and considering purchasing. But when I load my file, the spinner controls don't look right but they do function. They are missing the arrows on either side. These are form controls, not ActiveX.

In the picture below, the 4 spinners on the right are from the original Excel file. The one on the top left is one that was inserted from the forms menu in Excel 365 and the one on the bottom left is an ActiveX control that I inserted from Excel 365. The ActiveX control is what all the ones on the right should look like.

Is there something I need to do to correct this or is this just how EXCEL 365 displays these? I am trying to decide if I should stick with Office 2016 or use Microsoft 365. Thank you.
