Selection tool, cells depend on other cells

For my thesis I have to make a selection tool in Excel. The matrix should move along with a number of entered answers. The answers again depend on other answers in the cell. Using the If-function gets tricky, because the outcome in one cell depends on maybe 3 other cells. Do I have to do this in VBA or is there another option? (Learning VBA is going to take a lot of time)

@LRoelink That's quite vague if I may say so. Can you share a file that accurately resembles the data you are working with? It doesn't have to be real (perhaps confidential) data.
