Scientific notation

Copper Contributor

Hello,

I am trying to convert  .39 as a scientific notation in excel or word, but I cannot see how you can do it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

@Hathaway7 Like this perhaps?

Choose Scientific in the Number group on the Home ribbon.

Thanks for the reply. I need to do it to decimal places. Would that be 39.0E-02?

@Hathaway7 Don't understand. I entered 0.39 and that becomes 3.90E-01 when you format it as Scientific.

@Hathaway7

Use the custom number format 00.0E+00

Sorry I just notice a typo from my last message. I wanted two decimal places. Also, how do you enter the formula?
Thanks again.

@Hathaway7

Do you want two decimal places (i.e. two digits after the decimal point), or do you want two digits before the decimal point?
