return max in date range based on X column #

return max in column specified subject to date criteria.  Column # is returned in e5, so assuming e5 = 10, dailyworksheet has dates in row a2:a1000, i would want the max of the 10th column that is on the "daily" tab within the date range provided in column A.

Mike, perhaps MAXIFS() will work, but as @Faraz Shaikh said without sample file it's hard to suggest something concrete.
