Removing DIV ERROR in a cell that has an AVERAGE formula already in it.

Copper Contributor

I have a survey with several questions in several sections.  Responses are selected from a dropdown list
(1-10). An average is calculated for each section Example: =AVERAGE(C20:C25). The problem is that when there are no responses, that cell returns the DIV ERROR.  OK, that's the easy part.

The issue is how to get rid of the DIV ERROR when there is already an =AVERAGE formula in that cell.

I have tried the IF, IFERROR, &, etc with no luck. As I am not an Excel expert, it's quite possible that my syntax was incorrect, however I've been working this issue for hours with no luck.

Can someone help me please?

Many thanks!

Use IFERROR().

Search for examples and look at the help page if you are not sure how use it.
