Protecting MS Excel fie

Copper Contributor

Hello.

Could you please explain how can I protect MS Excel (Office 365) file with password so that it offers 2 options:
1) open and edit file after entering the password

2) open file in read-only mode without entering the password.

I would be obliged for help.

Thank you in advance.

Tomasz

Select 'General Options...'.

Leave the 'Password to open' box empty, and enter a password in the 'Password to modify' box.

Don't forget this password!

Tick the check box 'Read-only recommended'.

Click OK.

You will have to enter the password again as confirmation.

Save the workbook.

Dear Hans, thank you a lot. It was difficult for me to find this option in the online help. I appreciate your engagement.
