Default cell format is General, it could be converted to Text automatically if you return texts to cells by formula or by copy/paste. Applying currency, number and like format to such cells won't convert texts to numbers, you shall do that by another way. If you provide bit more details, desirably at least screenshort or better sample file, it could be more concrete advise.
