Prevent addition of period when drag auto incrementing short weekday names

Hi

When auto incrementing weekdays by theyr abbreviation excel adds a period even if the initial field did not have one (german language):

What I would like to have is this

Where does excel get this format from and how can I change this without having to format every cell? I have not found a setting in windows region settings for this particular weekday format.
