Microsoft Office Professional 2019: Excel Find Function

Occasional Visitor

I am contending with a problem in Microsoft Excel that hangs the process of my "find" function while searching workbooks.  Frequently, the Find Function Message Box gives the message to "press escape to abort;" the next message box asks me to confirm the process abort.  Looking at the Range Name Box, the cell/range name is continuously cycling.  When the find process is aborted, the results list display the same cell if "Find All" is selected to begin the search.  If the abort process is successful, the Excel application must be restarted to continue working--in this process all unsaved work is lost.  I have many large workbooks that I am required to search frequently.  What can I do to prevent this problem with the Find Function?  Without the this function, the Excel Application and my workbooks are useless.
