Mac user challenged with getting functions to work in Excel

I have a constant challenge in getting VLookup or Concatenate to work on a Mac in Excel.


Are there any particular tips or tricks to get it to work the first time.


I tend to take the code from someone on a PC, and then paste it to get it to work. After having exhausted all the tips and tricks provided by others, and your tools to help in building the formulas correctly.


What is the best way to ensure these functions deliver the needed information on the first try?  I am no stranger to working in Excel. Just does not work on a Mac.  Always worked on a PC for me, but since I changed over to a MAC this is a non-stop challenge.

Formulas should work the same way on a Mac as on Windows.

Do you have a different decimal separator?

Or do you use a different version of Excel?
