keep source format when pasting

Want to copy and past cells and keep source formatting. When I copy and go to paste nothing drops down in the paste menu...then when I paste it is all messed up! Help

On which Excel you are (Android, Mac, Windows) and which edition?

hi, I know it is an old post, but i am facing a very similar issue.

When trying to copy SQL formatted text from Azure, Eclipse... into MS Word (Office 365) it does keep the Target (Word) formatting.

So the SQL formatting gets lost:

I´ve followed as per suggestions:

But still "Paste Special" options still do not appear:
