Attached is a spreadsheet I use to track inventory. I want to be able to add a date in a cell like "12-1" or "11-15" when I have completed the inventory up to that date and cannot work it again until the date I input, without it being calculated into the totals for each row and column, basically a null value for that cell, but keeping the date visible so I know when to follow up.

@PLeClaire Not sure what I'm looking at, but perhaps the attached file shows what you want to achieve. Enter the "date" as a text, then the sum formulae will ignore them.
PS: Could not resist cleaning up the schedule a bit and demonstrated a more effective way of using SUM.
