I've put formulas into the cells with the pale orange backgrounds.
I also added a column for "Qty"--Quantity--because there surely will be times when you want to figure taxes and totals for more than one item.
The tax rate is now what's called a "named range"--you can look that up in Excel help. It means that in the formula that calculates tax, you'll see the "sub-total" amount multiplied by "tax". If the tax rate changes, that number in the green background can be changed but the formula remains the same. This is especially helpful if you copy those rows down to allow for multiple items being purchased, and have the formula being used multiple times. Just change the green number and the results will be applied automatically in every row.
And I've copied the formulas down some more rows so you can add more items.
All you need to do is enter items to be purchased, unit price, and quantity. The rest is done for you.
