How to Stop Pivot Table Grouping Affecting Another Pivot Table

Copper Contributor

Hi

I'm trying (on a Mac) to create 2 pivot tables with the same data set but separate groupings and cannot seem to find the answer.  It seems possible on a PC with Alt D P.

Any help will be fantastic.

@jc_007 Make sure that you have not accidentally disabled automatic grouping of dates in tables and filters (Excel, Preferences, Tables&Filters). Not disabling this will create date hierarchies (date, month, quarter, year) as separate fields to chose from, when you drag dates into the row or column field. Now you can create one PT e.g. on a monthly basis and another, off the same data source, on an annual basis.

Thank you, this was the problem, now ok.
