How to split a % total cell between a varying number of cells

Copper Contributor

I want to have a total cell in an Excel spreadsheet which adds up the percentages in a number of other cells to 100%.

There may be eg - 4 other cells selected in which case they will be 25% each.  I want a formula to paste into the cells (all selected as part of the total column) so that the % in each cell will change if additional cells are added but always adding up to 100%.

Is this possible?

Hey - you can forget this. I've worked out what to do - divide what's in the total cell by the number of cells and then copy the answer into each cell. It works. Thanks.
