How to set up an aging formula that only runs if the item is open and not closed

Copper Contributor

I am attempting to create a formula that will only run if one of the cells is labeled O. O stands for open while C stands for closed. I am wanting to setup a formula that will show the age of an open case, only if it is open. I have the dates column, status column, and a aging column that I will use for the aging output. I have researched this for a solid hour and come up with nothing that fits my situation. I am fairly new to Excel and still learning as I go. If anyone has some suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for y'alls help!

Carter, perhaps you may share small sample file. It's not clear what do you mean, e.g. while C stands for closed - what is C, how Excel knows it's closed or not, etc.
