How to selectively choose data from multiple values in a single cell for use in charting/graphs?

Copper Contributor

I am wondering how to selectively choose data that exists within a singular cell in order to plot a chart or graph. For instance, I have, quite literally, thousands of cells that have this layout: "x @ y°F," where 'x' is a value and 'y°F' is a separate value. I want to be able to chart only the 'x' value , while ignoring the '@' and temp reading when I select the entire row of data. Is there a way I can selectively choose what to graph from a given cell? If not, is there a way I can select a row and then have it separate itself out into multiple rows with a single value? I have attached an example of the issue. Thanks-all help is appreciated!

Select the range with data.

Copy it.

Click elsewhere.

Click the lower half of the Paste button.

Select the Transpose option.

The data are now in a column.

On the Data tab of the ribbon, click Text to Columns.

Select Delimited, then click Next >.

Tick the check box for Space, then click Finish.

You now have the 'x' numbers in a separate column.
