HOW DO I STOP EXCEL FROM GENERATING THOUSANDS OF CELLS

Copper Contributor

I just want an excel spreadsheet that doesn't have thousands of cells. I am literally using 97 cells, yet my spreadsheet has about 100k cells. It won't let me delete them and I wish I could just set the number of cells before I even start or somehow turn off the autogenerating thing. I am using microsoft office 365 in my browser.

How do I stop excel from autogenerating new cells? I just want to be able to scroll to the end of my spreadsheet without adding hundreds or thousands of cells in the process.

I have never experienced Excel autogenerating new cells.

Every worksheet has a grid of 2^20 rows by 2^14 columns. That's 2^34 cells.

And that is it.
