help with autosum of minutes and seconds

I can't get my minutes and seconds to autosum and appear on the status bar at the bottom.  My values appear like this:

03:11

05:15

06:28

Does it have to do with the format of the column with the data?

If time format is applied and in the cells is time, not datetime, it shall show correctly
