GROUPING OR CONDITIONAL FORMATTING

Copper Contributor

I have a 5000 row file that is currently sorted by a column that has numeric data in it.  I need a way to seprate by the duplicate values in that column.  Please see attached snapshot as reference.

Would alternating colors be OK? If so:

In an empty column, enter the following formula in row 2, let's say in BK2:

=ISODD(COUNTA(UNIQUE($BD$2:$BD2)))

Fill down to the last used row.

Select either from BD2 down to the last used row, or the entire rows from row 2 down to the last used row. The active cell in the selection should be in row 2.

On the Home tab of the ribbon, click Conditional Formatting > New Rule...
Select 'Use a formula to determine which cells to format'.
Enter the formula   =$BK2   referring to the cell in which you entered the formula.

Click Format...
Activate the Fill tab.
Select a fill color.
Click OK, then click OK again.
