Grouped data visibility in formula builder

Hi there,

When building a formula Excel somehow automatically opens grouped rows and columns when I select a cell (with mouseclick). How do I stop Excel from automatically opening this? Can't find it in the Options menu...

Not sure what you mean by "opens" and "opening"--are you referring to the highlighting of cells (and/or rows and columns) to which the formula refers? It does this to serve as an aid...to make sure your formula is referring to the cells you mean for it to refer to. Why is it a problem?

I'm not sure whether there's a preference setting for that, or a default, but wanted to ask you to describe your reason for wanting it to not work that way.
