Formula with quotation marks

New Contributor

I'm trying to use the LEFT (and RIGHT) formula but it doesn't work because of the quotation marks in it. I have a Swedish keyboard and a Swedish account on Office 365 but has changed the settings to English (American) since I'm using Excel for my American university. Thus, I think there is something more that need to be adjusted in the settings, I just don't know what or how. Please help!

Use double quotes in Excel formulas

When you add double quotes in a formula in Excel, Excel will recognize the characters enclosed in the quotes as a part of the actual text. The upper link explains how to use double quotes in Excel formula.

If the formulas need to be translated into English or Swedish, here is a link with a translation option.

Otherwise, if I may recommend, include the formula to illustrate the problem more clearly.

At the same time, it would be an advantage (especially for you) if the Excel version, operating system, and storage medium were always specified in the problem statement.

Hope I was able to help you with this info.
