Formula questions for Excel re: multiplication

Copper Contributor

Does anyone know how to create a simple formula where I can multiply the number of hours worked by the standard rate of pay per hour to calculate the total money

@MsCherie Suppose the standard rate is in A1 and the hours are in column B1 and down, you could use in C1:

=$A$1*B1

and copy it down if needed.

I tried this and I'm going to see if I can drop it to you so you can see how it looks it should be $2,081.25 so I am doing something wrong.

Solution

@MsCherie You need to multiply the duration (83:15) by 24 to get the numerical value of hours, i.e. 83.25.  multiply by 25 ( the hourly rate) and you'll get 2081.25. Make sure you format H27 as "General".

Thank you so much you are a life saver!!!
