Formula Help, Countifs dependent on drop down selection

Hi I want to count days absent dependent on the category of absence in the drop-down list. 

so if sickness absence selection D8 then count the total number of days listed in K8 to AO8. Total for sickness absence for that row in AP8. minus columns that are Sat or Sun - these change every month due to dates, that last bit not the end of the world 

if d9 is DCL leave then it would be totaled in AQ9 

Hope that makes sense - the input that needs counting can be either 1, 0.75, 0.5, 0.25
