HOW DO I TURN OFF THE AUTO FORMATING? I AM WRITTING DOWN A DATE IN A CELL AND IT CHANGES IT TO A STYLE I DO NOT CARE FOR? THANKS FOR THE HELP!

Excel recognizes the ongoing formatting and automatically continues it.

If the same formatting is used (at least) three times in a row in a contiguous area, this automatic mechanism takes effect.

This applies to cells that are next to or one below the other.

You can also disable this behavior.

Since I don't know your version of Excel, I am sending you the option to switch off Excel 2007-2016. But it should work the same way with the other version, even if I haven't tried it.

Open excel,

1) Click on "File",

2) Select "Options",

3) Select "Advanced",

4) In the area "Editing options"

5) Search for "Extend data range formats and formulas".

and remove / deactivate the check mark in the corresponding field.

6) Press "OK" and the automatism should be removed.

I would be happy to know if I could help.
