Formating the Date

Copper Contributor

Hello,

I have downloaded dates from a file and Excel reads the data as text.  I have tried formating the cells to be a date but Excel still won't see the format as a date.  I know there is a way to format the date but I can't remember.

Can someone help me?

Just changing format won't help. If dates are in column, you may select them, Data->Text to Columns and on third step of the wizard mark type of the column Date and select in which format they are now (e.g. MDY)

Select the column and Data->Text to Columns. Wizard window appears
