Find and Replace "Find what" pull-down

Brass Contributor

When I use find and replace I often need to enter the same text that I had previously found and replaced. There is a pull down which has the intent of storing previous searches. However, when I select the pull-down it is always blank. It never seems to remember my previous searches. Am I doing something wrong or does it just not work?

Hi,

Excel should remember your recent searches as long as Excel is still open. If you quit Excel and open the workbook again, your recent searches will be erased!

@Haytham AmairahIt is not working that way. I have attached a video showing my problem. When I do the last Find and Replace, I expect "$N" to be in the pull-down because I had previously searched for it. However, it is not there and I have to type it in again.

The Replace doesn't save the recent searches in the Find what dropdown list!

But you can save it in the dropdown list by selecting Find All before you select Replace All.

This is the trick you need! but it costs you an extra click!

Hope that helps

I guess I can live with that. Thanks!
