In one of my excel files the function "add a row" is suddenly disabled - in the function table at the top of the file as well when I highlight a row and try to click on "add row". What's wrong with this file?

Make sure that the worksheet has not been protected. Activate the Review tab of the ribbon. If the 'Protect Sheet' button is highlighted, click it to turn the protection off.

Also, make sure that the sheet does not contain a table that stretches to the very bottom of the worksheet (row 1048576).
