I would like to filter a list of banking transaction by date, and category. Column C is my date column. Column G are the categories. I have defined my transactions by category by assigning a numerical value to each one. I want to end up with a chronological list by date and grouped category. This is very basic, but I have worked to get 7 months worth of banking transactions data inputted and dont want to mess it up, so I would appreciate assistance. I obviously do not know how to use Excel.
Second part is question. Some of my numeric values turned into ############ and I can return them to numbers. What does this mean and how can I correct it?

If data looks like this
it's better to transform it to table. The only important point you shall have headers for all columns. With that stay on any cell within the range and Ctrl+T. Result will be like, and additionally you may add slicer which works the same way as filter
and you have a lot of options to filter dates
Similar could be done on range, only without slicers, but Table is more suitable.
As for ###, - just make column wider, if only here is not negative time.
