Excel sync issue

A customer of ours is having issues with their Excel files stored in OneDrive for Business. The files are not shared but whenever a user opens up the file on desktop, it hangs/freezes and an error states "The newer version of file is detected". It is happening with several other users too. I tried to run their Excel in safe mode and troubleshooted, but it did not work.

 

Please help me with the solution.
