Excel spreadsheet

When I clicked on accounting number format, the dollar amount that had been in the column of a spreadsheet I was working on disappeared. In their place is now ###. How do I correct it? I have tried reentering the dollar amount but it goes right back to ###

Try increasing the column width.

Select the cells then Ctrl +1 --> from the category click on Accounting

Make sure that the cell format is the same as the snapshot bellow.
