Excel seems to modify URL when executing Hyperlinks

Copper Contributor

I am trying to generate URL Hyperlinks in an Excel Spreadsheet. The format is always the same:

https://dashboard.sitename.com/...

When I click it, I get a failure. When I try the same Hyperlink in Word, it works.

I experimented and it appears the 'dashboard." is not being sent to the browser. At least the error is the same when I do that.

Any hints?

Does it also fail if you try using the HYPERLINK function?

@Jan Karel Pieterse Yes, it fails both ways.

I cannot send the file because it contains proprietary information. I have tried different Hyperlinks to other sites that have a ***.Sitename.com format and they do not fail. However, the one I need starts with "dashboard." and it always fails. It does not fail if the link is from a Hyperlink in Word.

Edit -- I capture a list from the server and it has user ID's. Looking at a profile for an individual is that ID number with common text before and after. My intent is to sequentially open the links as I fix the records detected as needing attention by my Excel Macro.

@RickRaymond

First of all, if you have not already done so,

I recommend that you perform a Windows Update ... Better safe than sorry :).
