Do you know how to save a file and retrieve it in other office applications, such as Word or PowerPoint? There's no real difference.
There's a menu at the top of your screen. Should look something like this:
If you click on File, the second word from the left, and you'll see the menu drop down
Click on "Save" and you'll get a dialog box looking something like this
Enter the name you wish to give the file into the box that says "Save As:" and click on the "Save" in the bottom right corner.
The next morning, you can go back to the initial step, clicking on File.... and this time select "Open Recent" and then select the file you saved the last time.
