Excel formulas

I have created a formula in a spreadsheet combining data from 2 spreadsheets.  I am finding this hard to explain but I have values in columns.  The formula I have created is to pick up the data in 4 columns on two different spreadsheets and it has worked but when I copy it down the rest of the cells I want it to take the data from the next row down in the spreadsheets and it is not.  It is just copying the same formula down.  It is changing the information from one cell but the data that is coming from the other spreadsheet it is not changing it.

It would help if you told us what the formulas look like, or attach a copy of the workbook.
