Excel formula

Copper Contributor

Is there a formula that will work to add up a column that is not numerical? For example, if you need to calculate the amount of times a cell is occupied against how many times it is not?

Solution

@nicoleireland5

=COUNTBLANK(A2:B5)

Counts empty cells in the range above.

COUNTBLANK function

=COUNTA(A2:A7)

Counts the number of nonblank cells in cells A2 through A7.

Count nonblank cells

I would be happy to know if I could help.
