Excel Formula help

I am trying to link two cells together with a = cell1 minus cell2 but I need to be able to put a value in cell 2 the the formula will use I know that I could use = 5 -D1 and get a result but what I need is to be able to change the 5 with out making a new formula.  Thank You for the help.

You cannot have a formula in a cell and combine it with a manual entry in that same cell. That is not how Excel works. Enter data into cells. Then use formulas in other cells to calculate.

If A1 has the value 5, then you can calculate =A1-D1 

When you can change the value in A1 to a different number, the result of the formula will update immediately.
